The Guide Dog lifestyle is a story of independents and fun. These cute puppies are taken care of and loved from the time they are born.
They are given to a host family for up to 18 months, where they learn the basics. These skills include, walking on a leash, listening to basic commands such as sit and down and learning to relieve outside. Another important aspect of puppy raising is exposure. Guide Dog puppy raisers take their puppies on light rail, busses, trains, plains, to dinner, to the office or just to run Aarons all day long. All of this exposure adds up to a young puppy who’s seen the world and isn’t afraid of it. Once the puppies leave the host family, their formal training begins. This training teaches these cute puppies all they'll need to know to turn in to wonderful Guide Dogs.
Take a beautiful heart warming story like that and add in our own unique experiences of what it’s like to work with one of these wonderful dogs everyday. We all have many stories that are both fun and educational. We’d love to share them with you and can taylor our presentation for all ages.
We don’t charge a specific fee but do ask for a donation that is forwarded directly to Guide Dogs for the Blind and if possible something to cover travel to your event.
